Instructors: Printing Problems

Problem

Solution

The printer is printing blank pages.

Check the cover of the printer. If it is open, push down on the cover until you hear the latch click. If the cover is properly closed, turn the printer off and then back in order to re-set it.

The printer displays an "MF-Load Letter" error.

Manual feeding of paper was selected in the application.

You get a message that the printer is out of paper.

If the printer is genuinely out of paper, call the CNS Help Desk at 492-9400. However, this error message can also mean that your CopiCard/ONEcard needs to be inserted in the card reader next to the printer. If your card is already in the card reader, it could also mean that there are no funds left in your CopiCard/ONEcard account.

The printer is jammed.

You can try to clear the printer yourself. If you do not want to do this, call the CNS Help Desk at 492-9400 to arrange for a lab support person to fix the printer.

My document isn't printing.

First, double-check the printing instructions posted in the computing lab. If you are doing everything correctly and are still experiencing problems, give the Help Desk a call at 492-9400.

The printer displays a "Load A4" error.

A4 paper size was selected in the application instead of the regular 8.5-inch by 11-inch paper used by the printer. Press the Shift+Continue button on the printer (or press Continue on HPIII printers) to override the paper size error. This will tell the printer to use the paper that's in the paper tray.

I need a refund.

Depending upon the circumstances, refunds for misprinting may be available from the ONEcard Office (B-12 Cameron Library). Bring evidence of the problem.
