Julius Schmuland, 75, a resident of Wetaskiwin for the past 54
years, died at the Wetaskiwin hospital on Wednesday May 9. Mr. Schmuland
came to Canada in 1889 and lived in Manitoba for two years before coming to
the Wetaskiwin district where he resided until the time of his death.
Surviving are his wife, five daughters, Mrs. John Buskas of Ponoka, Mrs.
Dave Scheske of Wetaskiwin, Mrs. H.A. Partridge of Red Deer, Mrs. Fred Riske of
Lacombe and Mrs. A. Whitford of Red Deer, three sons, Fredrick, Otto, and Gustave,
all of the Wetaskiwin district, 21 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. 2 brothers,
Gustave of Brightview and Rudolph of Wetaskiwin.
Funeral services conducted by Rev. A.Appelt were held at the Campbell Funeral Chapel last
Saturday afternoon. Pallbearers were Carl and Arthur Erickson, Malta Bolt, Hubert Roop,
Elof Rotvik, and Ernest Erickson. Interment took place in the Wetaskiwin cemetery.
