Fatal Runaway Accident
A fatal runaway accident happened a few miles south of the city on Thursday of
last week when Mrs. Karoline Schumland (sic) was returning from the city. When the
team was about a mile and a half from home they became unmanageable and ran away, throwing
the deceased out of the rig, and it was three hours before she was found. She never
regained consciousness to relate how the accident happened. Despite the best medical skill,
the spirit took flight on Tuesday of this week. Deceased was aged 66 years. The funeral
will take place tomorrow (Friday) morning, service being conducted in the Swedish Lutheran church, and the
remains will be laid to rest in the Wetaskiwin cemetery.
